Poco - Cantamos

Poco's 1974 release Cantamos is their 8th and the main album of Poco's Timothy B. Schmit phase. Both Ritchie Furay(1973) and Jim Messina(1971) already had left the band. So some changes took place, but again Poco were able to release a fine country rock album.
Line-up:
Rusty Young(v,g,steel) Paul Cotton(v,g)
Timothy B. Schmit(v,b) George Grantham(d)

@jazzme:
Your absolutely right, but I wanted to say they released a fine album regardless they lost two key members in that timeframe. By the way - think you guessed it already - the Furay/Messina are my favorite Poco phase. ;-)

Dear Seeker, BIG thanks for your always emotional 70s country rock posts. I´m touching at the moment with a chill my vinyl copy of Cantamos, with his beautiful and imaginative cover. Seven-Cantamos-Head Over Heels-Rose Of Cimarron-Indian Summer all in a row! What extraordinary Band! Much much better in my humble opinion that the overrated Eagles (old controversy, jeje) TAKE CARE & BEST!

Wow! Thank you! I always wanted to write in my site something like that. Can I take part of your post to my blog?

Thanks for the new old music - don't think I've run across a blog with as good a selection of cosmic american music as you have here. Keep up the good work!

I'm ripping the vinyl copy of this I got when I was in High School as I write... Found this blog while searching for the album art. Cantamos was a fine Poco release... The pressing on Epic is good fidelity, but more important, the band is tight and has a strong vision for the music they want to make... Timothy Schmidt brings a lot to Poco... Maybe it's no Crazy Eyes, but this album is a good example of what Poco can do... I love Susanna.

I'm italian and near where i come from there is an american military base.This gave me the chance to make american friends .In the 70' in Italy the music scene was not that good and the music we used to listen was mostly british.Thanks to my american friends i had the opportunity to discover another side of music.CSNY,Grateful Dead The Airplanes The Doors Loggins & Messina and also Poco Cantamos which i fell in love with after the first listen.Sorry for dragging it a bit to long but this music always brings out good memories.Thanks for this post and keep up the good work.Ciao
