1976's<i><b> </b>Helluva Band</i> is the second album by Angel. It explores the heavier side of progressive rock and includes their most progressive song, <span style="font-style: italic;">The Fortune</span>.<br />
<i>On Earth As It Is In Heaven</i> is their third album. This marks the last album with <span style="font-style: italic;">Mickie Jones</span> who was <span style="font-weight: bold;">Angel</span>'s bass player since<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinctzPcu7cGeZ1QCUoQswatw6n2DsVe2Agoqf0weiuGw3-x_HGaMGr0qtQsLezLTJbWjn7qRF1jVlt97w6c1A5ObfpMIqNEK0O9E4C1jKNdudRMSuDsOlLZ5Cv8hbM5_nAGhN0DEpsTwe2/s1600-h/On+Earth+As+It+Is+In+Heaven+-+Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386702770266117938" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinctzPcu7cGeZ1QCUoQswatw6n2DsVe2Agoqf0weiuGw3-x_HGaMGr0qtQsLezLTJbWjn7qRF1jVlt97w6c1A5ObfpMIqNEK0O9E4C1jKNdudRMSuDsOlLZ5Cv8hbM5_nAGhN0DEpsTwe2/s320/On+Earth+As+It+Is+In+Heaven+-+Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a> 1974. It was produced by Eddie Kramer and recorded in an actual castle in the Hollywood Hills. This album marked the shift from progressive and symphonic hard rock to a more mainstream hard rock approach, with the exception of <span style="font-style: italic;">Cast the First Stone</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Just A Dream</span> which are very similar in sound to Angel and <span style="font-style: italic;">Helluva Band</span>. <img src="http://feedjit.com/images/flags/gb.png" /> The debut album by british invasionists <span style="font-weight: bold;">Manfred Mann</span> holds up even better 40 years on than it did in 1964. It's also one of the longest LPs of its era, clocking in at 39 minutes, and there's not a wasted note or a song extended too far among its 14 tracks. They never had the reputation that the Rolling Stones enjoyed, which is a shame, because <span style="font-style: italic;">The Five Faces of </span><span style="font-style: italic;">Manfred Mann</span> is one of the great blues-based albums; it's a hot, rocking record that benefits from some virtuoso playing as well, and some of the best singing of its era, courtesy of <span style="font-style: italic;">Paul Jones</span>, who blew most of his rivals out of the competition with his magnificently impassioned, soulful performance on <span style="font-style: italic;">Untie Me</span>, and his simmering, lusty renditions of <span style="font-style: italic;">Smokestack Lightning</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Bring It to Jerome</span>. The stereo mix of the album, which never surfaced officially in England until this 1997 EMI anniversary reissue holds up very nicely, with sharp separation between the channels yet -- apart from a few moments on <span style="font-style: italic;">Untie Me</span> -- few moments of artificiality.<br />

The group's second British album <span style="font-style: italic;">Mann Made</span>, released 1965 just as the original lineup was entering a state of collapse with the impending departure of two key members, shows some of the changes that can happen in a year, as they move away from Chess Records' brand of blues as their baseline. Instead, <span style="font-weight: bold;">Manfred Mann</span> produce a sound that is slightly smoother and a lot more soulful. A handful of originals, mostly by <span style="font-style: italic;">Mike </span><span style="font-style: italic;">Vickers</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Mike Hugg</span> with one <span style="font-style: italic;">Paul Jones</span>-authored number thrown in, are scattered amid covers of songs originally from the Temptations, the Skyliners, and T-Bone Walker. If it isn't as fierce, bold, or daringly ambitious as Manfred Mann's debut long-player, Mann Made is just as much a virtuoso effort, and a surprisingly cohesive one considering that it was released immediately after Mike Vickers and Paul Jones announced their respective departures from the band.<br />

Thompson approached Vann to form a band, known as <span style="font-weight: bold;">Night</span>, soon after Vann's own backing group, <span style="font-style: italic;">Bones</span> had split up. Night then later split in 1983 after releasing two albums.<br />

Hugg was a competent pianist and an able vibraphonist, but his basic role in <span style="font-weight: bold;">Manfred Mann</span> was that of drummer. He was credited as co-writer of the group's early hits and contributed solo compositions throughout its life, including jazzy instrumentals and wistful acid-pop. When he and <span style="font-style: italic;">Manfred Mann</span> formed the more progressive <span style="font-weight: bold;">Manfred Mann's Chapter Three</span>, Hugg moved to electric piano and lead vocals, the latter, by his own account, purely for want of someone better. <span style="font-style: italic;">Mike Hugg</span> released three solo albums in the 1970's, 1972's<span style="font-style: italic;"> Somewhere</span> is his first.TheSeekerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05349069352849206640noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7120796458277113095.post-53550118614248550382012-12-22T04:38:00.000+01:002012-12-22T04:38:39.995+01:00 Ozark Mountain Daredevils - Cosmic Corn Cob & His Amazing Ozark Mountain Daredevils (Part II)<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1wcSemaoYw-ZV0nDhyphenhyphenVcF73x8anNbhxrCBb6YjrErB5Ko9Hd5gXZXxfWs7gZ20eGBGHBuswGn-xF4fr7hJXFYGfxqPHczrbmIYK0GrDRH0ZsIGv72X5eV0rRVt5mZm4IW2WgrF20sS03G/s1600-h/1980+-+Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5420577461118139058" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1wcSemaoYw-ZV0nDhyphenhyphenVcF73x8anNbhxrCBb6YjrErB5Ko9Hd5gXZXxfWs7gZ20eGBGHBuswGn-xF4fr7hJXFYGfxqPHczrbmIYK0GrDRH0ZsIGv72X5eV0rRVt5mZm4IW2WgrF20sS03G/s320/1980+-+Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuw4YOY9I3hwfUZhR3QTAT6qiajoFhq9mAEQIDGPwjBBY46UQ2pg6S520e5N_MIOTB2gBw4nzXeX1R07KY5lTbaOKynu9xa6j914_VRI1E2psGtQIHeQBGskTU5sCoAup76ILmkE-IKpsm/s1600-h/Heart+of+the+Country+-+Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5420577647073877266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuw4YOY9I3hwfUZhR3QTAT6qiajoFhq9mAEQIDGPwjBBY46UQ2pg6S520e5N_MIOTB2gBw4nzXeX1R07KY5lTbaOKynu9xa6j914_VRI1E2psGtQIHeQBGskTU5sCoAup76ILmkE-IKpsm/s320/Heart+of+the+Country+-+Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a><br />

2003 Lost Cabin Sessions<br />
<br />
<br />
<img src="http://feedjit.com/images/flags/us.png" /> By 1979 the group had moved over to CBS and put out <i>Ozark Mountain Daredevils</i> in May 1980. This album did not feature <span style="font-style: italic;">Chappell</span> or <span style="font-style: italic;">Canaday</span>, and <span style="font-style: italic;">Walle</span> only appeared on two songs, since producer <span style="font-style: italic;">Boylan</span> insisted on bringing in session players for a more typical California country rock laid back sound that was popular at the time. But the country rock sound's popularity seemed to be on the wane at the dawn of the 80's as groups like the Ozarks saw their sales begin to slip away. CBS dropped the group after only one record.<br />
In 1985, the band followed their erstwhile singer/drummer, <span style="font-style: italic;">Larry Lee</span>, to Nashville to record a new album produced by <span style="font-style: italic;">Wendy Waldman</span>. Lee briefly rejoined for this project, but <span style="font-style: italic;">Chowning</span> quit again during the recording and once the album was finished, there was, surprisingly, no interest at all from any of the labels in Nashville. A small French company, <span style="font-style: italic;">Dixie Frog Records</span>, eventually picked up the record and it was released in France as <i>Heart of the Country</i> in 1987. Many of the same songs were released in England in 1989 as <i>Modern History</i> on the Conifer label.<br />
New Era Productions, a company formed by an old Springfield buddy of the group's, <span style="font-style: italic;">Benny Smith</span>, agreed to fund another album of brand new material, <i>13</i>. This was produced, mostly in Nashville, by <span style="font-style: italic;">Larry Lee</span>, who played and sang on it as well. <i>13</i> was released in June 1997.<br />
Also that year came <i>Archive Alive</i>, a live album. This CD features a selection of recordings taken from around 1973 at the Cowtown Ballroom in Kansas City and the Kiel Opera House in St. Louis. This CD only includes songs written and played up until March 1973. Although it does feature songs which would appear on future album releases.<br />
2003 saw the release of the remastered <span style="font-style: italic;">Lost Cabin Sessions</span> with long lost recordings that were made during their early days together. Sometime during that period, they assembled a little eight-track studio in Springfield, and recorded 28 songs over a thirteen-hour day. The recordings on this CD represent that period, before the band even had a name. These are the recordings that impressed A&M enough to sign them to a long-term contract.TheSeekerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05349069352849206640noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7120796458277113095.post-27707271142226729812012-12-21T19:49:00.000+01:002012-12-21T19:49:08.469+01:00 Don Felder - Airborne<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPtEqXcJaUtYV0JUxRAXNupmWcKDOrnFugd28SRPgre7l2FApTOurMls6xGgtUtyuXXOXuxSyogm3E4XasTGgi8g-c7ZqN9Rr9ReZyadfoTn1b-Aius_j0BccbMpbDMV-DiCztUxNiGslN/s1600-h/Airborne+-+Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173371211563405890" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPtEqXcJaUtYV0JUxRAXNupmWcKDOrnFugd28SRPgre7l2FApTOurMls6xGgtUtyuXXOXuxSyogm3E4XasTGgi8g-c7ZqN9Rr9ReZyadfoTn1b-Aius_j0BccbMpbDMV-DiCztUxNiGslN/s320/Airborne+-+Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a><img border="0" src="http://feedjit.com/images/flags/us.png" /> In 1974, <span style="font-style: italic;">Felder</span> was invited to join the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Eagles</span>. A Year later his friend <span style="font-style: italic;">Joe Walsh</span> came also to the Eagles as replacement for <span style="font-style: italic;">Bernie Leadon</span>, together they added a harder edge to the Eagles musical sound. The band started moving away from their earlier country based rock style. On the band's fourth album,<span style="font-style: italic;">One of these Nights</span>, Felder sang lead vocal on the song <span style="font-style: italic;">Visions</span> which he co-wrote with <span style="font-style: italic;">Don Henley</span>, and was the only Eagles song that Felder ever sang lead vocal on.<br />
In 1983, he released a rock and roll album titled <span style="font-style: italic;">Airborne</span> which to date remains his only solo LP. He contributed the songs <span style="font-style: italic;">Heavy Metal (Takin' A Ride)</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">All of You</span> to the 1981 film <span style="font-style: italic;">Heavy Metal</span>. In 1994, the Eagles regrouped for a concert aired on MTV, which resulted in the album <span style="font-style: italic;">Hell Freezes Over</span>. Felder continued as a member of the Eagles through their 1999–2000 New Year's concerts. In 2001, Don was wrongful fired from the Eagles.<br />
The Felder cuts from Heavy Metal Film are also included.TheSeekerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05349069352849206640noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7120796458277113095.post-37478655639928285582012-12-21T11:49:00.001+01:002012-12-21T12:16:38.959+01:00John David Souther<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh28immknrfjXieCI_1LKPS-8vTEH_muXAaAuXJ3rAgBZ3e_UrS1HsSd8bKkNYsBbvDFP9S1Rj3LmbqObj19RNmOuEXjAnQV2w3C12KtW9NPs26zG6aAvnq8OQeIfBjfirtrGpsZczge5Dx/s1600-h/John+David+Souther+-+Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291538377161427554" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh28immknrfjXieCI_1LKPS-8vTEH_muXAaAuXJ3rAgBZ3e_UrS1HsSd8bKkNYsBbvDFP9S1Rj3LmbqObj19RNmOuEXjAnQV2w3C12KtW9NPs26zG6aAvnq8OQeIfBjfirtrGpsZczge5Dx/s320/John+David+Souther+-+Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRz7lriz7jqaV_q8SxcDVYDs7sq292XX7XKctmODG2Ed7rua2bUFOicJ4ku8duQAhwCr4PFJR128yNPxGa5rkhcjjEnotOTLtDa8SMylH8iFsGgCoEzxsMbANm-rJ3N1WcgMMJ98DxIBRZ/s1600-h/Black+Rose+-+Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291559797370477714" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRz7lriz7jqaV_q8SxcDVYDs7sq292XX7XKctmODG2Ed7rua2bUFOicJ4ku8duQAhwCr4PFJR128yNPxGa5rkhcjjEnotOTLtDa8SMylH8iFsGgCoEzxsMbANm-rJ3N1WcgMMJ98DxIBRZ/s320/Black+Rose+-+Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a><br />

Souther first cut <span style="font-style: italic;">Longbranch Pennywhistle</span>, together with <i>Glen Frey</i>(see: <span style="font-weight: bold;">Eagles</span> Fame for this album). After recording the eponymous <span style="font-style: italic;">John David Souther</span> album in 1972, Souther formed the <b>SHF Band</b><span style="font-style: italic;"> </span>with <span style="font-style: italic;">Chris Hillman</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Richie Furay</span>(see: <span style="font-weight: bold;">Poco</span> or <span style="font-weight: bold;">Byrds</span> Fame for these 2 albums).<br />
Souther is probably best known for his well-crafted songwriting abilities, especially in the field of country rock. He co-wrote some of the biggest hits for the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Eagles</span>. <span style="font-style: italic;">How Long</span>, which appears on the Eagles <span style="font-style: italic;">Long Road Out Of Eden</span> was written by Souther and originally recorded on his first solo album in 1972. He also produced <span style="font-weight: bold;">Linda Ronstadt</span><span style="font-weight: bold;">'s</span> <span style="font-style: italic;">Don't Cry Now</span>, and wrote songs for several of <span style="font-weight: bold;">Ronstadt</span>'s multi-platinum albums, including <span style="font-style: italic;">Faithless Love</span> from <span style="font-style: italic;">Heart Like A Wheel</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">White Rhythm and Blues</span> included in her <span style="font-style: italic;">Living in the USA</span> album. He also recorded several notable duets with <span style="font-weight: bold;">Ronstadt</span>, including <span style="font-style: italic;">Hasten Down the Wind</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Prisoner in Disguise</span>, and <span style="font-style: italic;">Sometimes You Can't Win</span>. He wrote <span style="font-style: italic;">Run Like a Thief</span>, which appeared on <i>Home Plate</i> by <span style="font-style: italic;">Bonnie Raitt</span>. His biggest hit as a solo artist was his 1979 Orbison-influenced song <span style="font-style: italic;">You're Only Lonely</span>. A collaboration with <span style="font-style: italic;">James Taylor</span> called <span style="font-style: italic;">Her Town Too</span> reached number 11 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart. On October 14, 2008, Souther released <span style="font-style: italic;">If The World Was You</span>, his first new release in 25 years.TheSeekerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05349069352849206640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7120796458277113095.post-2795403511007847582012-12-21T03:17:00.000+01:002012-12-21T03:17:01.569+01:00 Redwing = Poco in 5th gear <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZFeK9cr-5ZaFHMy7n8GhHpQYDuaIj2Q16ECT1C7_SJRbqxy3Fnfqy1W9T5ZH4o2XfjXu776_m7stcz-YrZSbQIYLIY-w3xYKx-AAGuINFIrQRkQsw7fTC4q5obWyJ0MtNDkPgmXH9ZzYm/s1600-h/redwing+1+fr+kopie.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227658771338311170" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZFeK9cr-5ZaFHMy7n8GhHpQYDuaIj2Q16ECT1C7_SJRbqxy3Fnfqy1W9T5ZH4o2XfjXu776_m7stcz-YrZSbQIYLIY-w3xYKx-AAGuINFIrQRkQsw7fTC4q5obWyJ0MtNDkPgmXH9ZzYm/s320/redwing+1+fr+kopie.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a><img src="http://feedjit.com/images/flags/us.png" /> The Seeker recently found a long lost gem: <span style="font-weight: bold;">The New Breed</span>, a band with <span style="font-style: italic;">Timmy B. Great singing, competing guitars and swinging like hell. They released 5 albums: <span style="font-style: italic;">Redwing</span> (1971), <span style="font-style: italic;">What This Country Needs</span> (1972), <span style="font-style: italic;">Take Me Home</span> (1973), <span style="font-style: italic;">Dead Or Aliv</span><span style="font-style: italic;">e</span> (1974) and <span style="font-style: italic;">Beyond the Sun and Stars</span> (1975). Timmy returned shortly and can be heard on the 2nd album. Sadly enough these gems never were rereleased on cd, Fantasy did not even think of a great compilation album. Fortunately I was able to lay my hands on the first three LP's so I'll post them here, including scans of the original artwork, ripped from vinyl to AIFF and then to Flac lossless or 320 mp3, whatever you like.<br />

Originally, the album was to be produced by <span style="font-style: italic;">Bruce Botnick</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Neil Young</span>, but <span style="font-style: italic;">Young</span> bowed out due to his commitments to <span style="font-style: italic;">Buffalo Springfield</span>. However, <span style="font-style: italic;">Young</span> did stick with the album project long enough to arrange the track <span style="font-style: italic;">The Daily Planet</span>. The sessions began in June 1967, with the group replaced by Los Angeles session players <span style="font-style: italic;">Billy Strange</span> (guitar), <span style="font-style: italic;">Don Randi</span> (piano), <span style="font-style: italic;">Hal Blaine</span> (drums) and <span style="font-style: italic;">Carol Kaye</span> (bass). The two tracks recorded during these sessions, <span style="font-style: italic;">Andmoreagain</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">The Daily Planet</span>, were later given sparing overdubs by the actual members of <span style="font-weight: bold;">Love</span>, who felt the tracks otherwise sufficed. <span style="font-style: italic;">Botnick</span> recalls that the use of session musicians sparked the band, and they realized they had blown it, got their act together and recorded the rest of the album. A September recording session finished the album, sweetening the mixes with horns and strings, as well as some additional piano from <span style="font-style: italic;">Don Randi</span>, who played all the keyboard parts on the album as the band now had no keyboard player.<br />
<br />
The album was re-released by Rhino in 2001, featuring alternate mixes, outtakes and the group's 1968 single, <span style="font-style: italic;">Your Mind and We Belong Together</span>.<br />

<img src="http://feedjit.com/images/flags/us.png" /> The <b>Ozark Mountain Daredevils</b> are a country rock band formed in 1972 in Springfield, Missouri. They are most widely known for their singles <span style="font-style: italic;">If You Wanna Get To Heaven</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Jackie Blue</span>.<br />
The first record, <i>Ozark Mountain Daredevils</i> (also referred to as <span style="font-style: italic;">The Quilt Album</span>), was released in December 1973 and spawned the Top 30 hit <span style="font-style: italic;">If You Wanna Get to Heaven</span> in the summer of '74. The album introduced the band's unique mixture of country & rock to the world and is still the favorite of many of the group's fans.<br />
For the second album, <i>It'll Shine When in Shines</i> (Fall 1974), <span style="font-style: italic;">Glyn Johns</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">David Anderle</span> came to Missouri to record, utilizing a mobile recording truck set up outside of the band's rehearsal home. During the sessions, Johns overheard <span style="font-style: italic;">Larry Lee</span> sitting at a piano playing and singing a song about a mysterious friend of his who sometimes dealt drugs on the side. Johns loved the melody and thought it could be a smash hit if the lyrics were altered to be about a girl and the drug references downplayed. Lee and Cash did as Johns asked and the song, <span style="font-style: italic;">Jackie Blue</span>, became the Daredevil's signature song and a huge hit in early 1975.<br />
The Ozark's third release, <i>The Car Over the Lake Album</i> (Fall 1975), produced by Anderle alone, featured their old compatriot, <span style="font-style: italic;">Bill Jones</span>, joining them to play and arrange their songs. Another face from the past, <span style="font-style: italic;">Steve Canaday</span>, also came back into the group's life at this same time as road manager and opening act before joining the band in 1976. The album sold fairly well but produced no hits. One reason why the band's fortunes began to falter might have been their reluctance to relocate to Southern California after being asked to do so by A&M co-head <span style="font-style: italic;">Jerry Moss</span>. Personnel shifts within the group also began to change the chemistry. <span style="font-style: italic;">Randle Chowning</span> left in May 1976, after a falling out with the others, to form his own <span style="font-style: italic;">Randle Chowning Band</span>. Norwegian musician <span style="font-style: italic;">Rune Walle</span> then joined to replace him.<br />
That same year the Daredevils headed to the Caribou Ranch, Colorado to record their fourth album which they'd originally titled <i>Nuclear Fishin</i> ' but then changed to <i>Men From Earth</i> after A&M objected. The <i>Nuclear Fishin</i> ' title was later used up in Canada for a greatest hits pack. Anderle was once again in the producer's chair and <span style="font-style: italic;">Jerry Mills</span> joined the band on mandolin and also served as the group's advance publicist.<br />
In the fall of '76, <span style="font-style: italic;">Buddy Brayfield</span> departed to study medicine and <span style="font-style: italic;">Ruell Chappell</span> from the popular Springfield group <span style="font-style: italic;">Spillwater Junction</span> came in. But the band's next several releases, <i>Men From Earth</i> (Fall 1976), <i>Don't Look Down</i> (Fall 1977) and <i>It's Alive</i> (September 1978) sold in lesser quantities than their previous records had. <span style="font-style: italic;">Jerry Mills</span> and his mandolin were dropped from the group after <i>It's Alive</i> since the band were performing less acoustic numbers in their show by this time.TheSeekerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05349069352849206640noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7120796458277113095.post-13373448749441275162012-12-20T17:35:00.002+01:002012-12-20T17:35:14.586+01:00 Billy Swan - The bird that has flown of course<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXq5szuox_iD5bWjPIGORAn3_om4EpLFVMCG8t3yU7pLBM1QB8YheETFKNNEkZCo34s3JwB8E87uBaJ72LaWdEge4DmGfkUpSaIDijfr0h5IbpcOnWgBrB1gm1rXXd5H9V2jBPtOI18NTm/s1600-h/I+Can+Help+-+Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385144652308075538" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXq5szuox_iD5bWjPIGORAn3_om4EpLFVMCG8t3yU7pLBM1QB8YheETFKNNEkZCo34s3JwB8E87uBaJ72LaWdEge4DmGfkUpSaIDijfr0h5IbpcOnWgBrB1gm1rXXd5H9V2jBPtOI18NTm/s320/I+Can+Help+-+Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinQb_GF9NO6-b0gaOLsrqI1_n5cFbLqtYY55OnUSDGk9C-Es759OmDI-avSC-XVJR4uxpN4XlJlDxfcl88Q-sjjwo-DIMA4FRn-H7w1xCX9OQeSKx-20H5lLL3ARlUezI4Y8FnaWfd6q-N/s1600-h/Like+Elvis+Used+To+Do+-+Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385145231205805938" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinQb_GF9NO6-b0gaOLsrqI1_n5cFbLqtYY55OnUSDGk9C-Es759OmDI-avSC-XVJR4uxpN4XlJlDxfcl88Q-sjjwo-DIMA4FRn-H7w1xCX9OQeSKx-20H5lLL3ARlUezI4Y8FnaWfd6q-N/s320/Like+Elvis+Used+To+Do+-+Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a><br />

<img src="http://feedjit.com/images/flags/us.png" /> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Billy Swan</span>'s role was, originally, largely invisible. He learned drums, piano, and guitar and also began writing songs. <span style="font-style: italic;">Lover Please</span>, was recorded by <span style="font-style: italic;">Mirt Mirly & the Rhythm Stoppers</span>. Swan's first big break was in 1962 when <span style="font-style: italic;">Clyde McPhatter</span> recorded <span style="font-style: italic;">Lover Please</span>, that quickly became a Top Ten Hit. Allowing <span style="font-style: italic;">Swan</span> to write hit country songs for numerous artists, including <span style="font-style: italic;">Conway Twitty</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Waylon Jennings</span>, and <span style="font-style: italic;">Mel Tillis</span>. Swan's first album included the popular song <span style="font-style: italic;">I Can Help</span>, a rockabilly number that topped both the Billboard top 100 and country charts in 1974. Swan recorded the song in two takes with an electric organ that <span style="font-style: italic;">Chris Kristofferson</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Rita Coolidge</span> had bought for him as a wedding present. In 1986 he continued as part of a band called <span style="font-weight: bold;">Black Tie</span>, along with <span style="font-style: italic;">Randy Meisner</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Jimmy Griffin</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">David Kemper</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">David Miner</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">David Mansfield</span> which recorded the album <span style="font-style: italic;">When the Night Falls</span>. <span style="font-style: italic;">Swan</span> continued to tour with <span style="font-style: italic;">Kristofferson</span>, and has recorded two albums with <span style="font-style: italic;">Randy Meisner</span>. <span style="font-style: italic;">Swan</span> recorded a new album at the original Sun Records studios, <span style="font-style: italic;">Like Elvis Used to Do</span>, in 2000.TheSeekerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05349069352849206640noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7120796458277113095.post-37169612880236179512012-12-19T21:19:00.000+01:002012-12-19T21:19:02.149+01:00 Rednex - Sex & Violins<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicA29AFt6mcJMlUYAvyuHSHBrc2YH-eqUPYeDNPt_yNURw0WxKoLQ308RMPBmx6ZTkpVfXRfsXaXE40cLY-XeqzvD6brU3WiqnzLBStW7DsUNlCkK2tAEIANaK5NdFepCwsvURpGr7X19T/s1600-h/Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5222601757668143298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicA29AFt6mcJMlUYAvyuHSHBrc2YH-eqUPYeDNPt_yNURw0WxKoLQ308RMPBmx6ZTkpVfXRfsXaXE40cLY-XeqzvD6brU3WiqnzLBStW7DsUNlCkK2tAEIANaK5NdFepCwsvURpGr7X19T/s320/Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a><img border="0" src="http://feedjit.com/images/flags/se.png" /> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Rednex</span> is the brainchild of Swedish producers who decided to try mixing country music with eurodance. The name <span style="font-style: italic;">Rednex</span> was chosen as a misspelling of the word rednecks. They reworked the traditional folk song <span style="font-style: italic;">Cotton-Eyed Joe</span> into a dance song and released it in 1994, to huge worldwide success. This started the Country House music fad which lasted for a few years afterward. The album <span style="font-style: italic;">Sex & Violins</span> followed the hit song, and <span style="font-weight: bold;">Rednex</span> went on to score other hits in Europe from that album <span style="font-style: italic;">Old Pop in an Oak</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Wish You Were Here</span>. 1970 Volume 2<br />
Both are remasters<br />
<br />
<img src="http://feedjit.com/images/flags/gb.png" /> <b>Manfred Mann's Chapter Three</b> was a experimental jazz rock band founded by keyboard player <span style="font-style: italic;">Manfred Mann</span>. The band was short-lived and disbanded after two albums.<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Volume 1</span> is the debut album released in 1969. The Band consists of <span style="font-style: italic;">Mike Hugg</span>(piano,vocals), <span style="font-style: italic;">Manfred Mann</span>(organ), <span style="font-style: italic;">Steve York</span>(bass), <span style="font-style: italic;">Bernie Living</span>(sax), <span style="font-style: italic;">Brian Hugg</span>(guitar), <span style="font-style: italic;">Craig Collinge</span>(drums).<br />
If you don't know what the title of track 3 means try to read it backwards.<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Volume 2</span> was released in 1970. The lineup had no changes, additional musicians are:<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Dave Brooks</span>(sax), <span style="font-style: italic;">Clive Stevens</span>(sax), <span style="font-style: italic;">Senny Corbet</span>(trumpet), <span style="font-style: italic;">David Coxhill</span>(sax).<br />
<br />
Mann went on to form <span style="font-weight: bold;">Manfred Mann's Earth Band</span> in 1971.TheSeekerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05349069352849206640noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7120796458277113095.post-87974387682438142342012-12-19T19:14:00.002+01:002012-12-19T19:14:23.926+01:00Hollies - The EP Collection<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih9dlthpyNif-OJKUSrl3HANnvP0AuANR8pXnrCTrxSvrm3JOzifPX35fMJoV9VWk7ntE39M6E4nNa6sxYNOqjE8GuywfoLnhsnX0NpbBYe8UJ4KXo2tmhvjhvHVIp0JHH77W5o_sRRWRI/s1600-h/The+EP+Collection+-+Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379188961225120770" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih9dlthpyNif-OJKUSrl3HANnvP0AuANR8pXnrCTrxSvrm3JOzifPX35fMJoV9VWk7ntE39M6E4nNa6sxYNOqjE8GuywfoLnhsnX0NpbBYe8UJ4KXo2tmhvjhvHVIp0JHH77W5o_sRRWRI/s320/The+EP+Collection+-+Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a><img src="http://feedjit.com/images/flags/gb.png" /> <span style="font-weight: bold;">The Hollies</span> 1987's sampler of items from 1964-1966. Souther</span> (who of course went on to write much material for the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt). Frey had moved to Los Angeles from Detroit, where he had played with <span style="font-style: italic;">Bob Seger</span>, and hooked up there with ex-Texan <span style="font-style: italic;">J.D. Souther</span>. The two attracted attention in the burgeoning Southern California country-rock scene via gigs at the Troubadour club and were signed by Amos Records. Their lone LP was produced by <span style="font-style: italic;">Tom Thacker</span> and featured a wealth of outstanding session musicians, such as guitar heroes <span style="font-style: italic;">James Burton</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Ry Cooder</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Buddy Emmons</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Larry Knechtel</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Joe Osborn</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Jim Gordon</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Doug Kershaw</span>.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
J.D. Souther moved from Texas to California to follow the footsteps of the great B's: The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, The Beach Boys and The Flying Burrito Brothers. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Longbranch Pennywhistle</span> is a pleasant album of early country-rock. Pre-echoes of the sound of the Eagles and 1970s mellow Californian rock can be heard and some songs sound like the later days Byrds meet Poco. Souther would re-record one of the better songs, "Kite Woman," for his early-'70s solo debut. The album sold little and the duo broke up in mid-1970. However, Frey was soon playing in Linda Ronstadt's band The Stone Poneys and forming the nucleus of the Eagles, to whom Souther would frequently contribute as a songwriter. Souther and Frey would continue to collaborate, also with fellow Eagle Don Henley, occasionally on such Eagles classics as <span style="font-style: italic;">The Best of My Love</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">New Kid in Town</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Victim of Love</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">The Sad Café</span>, and <span style="font-style: italic;">Heartache Tonight</span>.</div>

The band consisted of <span style="font-style: italic;">Don Henley</span> on drums and vocals, bassist <span style="font-style: italic;">Michael Bowden</span> (Richard's cousin), keyboardist <span style="font-style: italic;">Jim Ed Norman</span>, Dobro/steel guitarist <span style="font-style: italic;">Al Perkins</span> and, of course, lead guitarist <span style="font-style: italic;">Richard Bowden</span>. Along the way, they came to know <span style="font-style: italic;">Kenny Rogers</span>, who encouraged them to go to Los Angeles and gave them tips on how to search for a record deal. Rogers' advice paid off and <span style="font-weight: bold;">Shiloh</span> released their first album, <span style="font-style: italic;">Shiloh</span>, in 1970. The record spawned one regional hit single, but went otherwise unnoticed, and that, together with a bad management deal, caused the band to break up.<br />
<span class="d-r"> <span style="font-style: italic;">As Al Perkins</span> left and joined The <span style="font-weight: bold;">Flying Burrito Brothers</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Don Henley</span> were asked if he wanted to go on the road with <span style="font-style: italic;">Glenn Frey</span> as a band member to backup <span style="font-weight: bold;">Linda Ronstadt</span>. They also recruited the remaining members of <span style="font-weight: bold;">Shiloh</span>, <span style="font-style: italic;">Michael Bowden</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Richard Bowden</span>. <span style="font-style: italic;">Jim Ed Norman</span> </span>resurfaced as arranger and pianist on <span style="font-weight: bold;">Eagles</span> and <span style="font-weight: bold;">Linda Ronstadt</span> albums.TheSeekerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05349069352849206640noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7120796458277113095.post-19382911945076940362012-12-18T14:05:00.000+01:002012-12-18T14:05:23.592+01:00Cat Stevens - Majikat<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAkLup8ITDxYd8WMa8Sa-pR31719_DMFzvFb5xzz60WVS-6SSXrFG6b6uweucO4MuulUE9W3y6BgyYfgc3av4JQDfSokson2HpfduRwXVfsnTvJUoPesjbhPN5B6nZ-GrdEwCp0n3XpkF3/s1600/Majikat+-+Front.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5405488451935165602" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAkLup8ITDxYd8WMa8Sa-pR31719_DMFzvFb5xzz60WVS-6SSXrFG6b6uweucO4MuulUE9W3y6BgyYfgc3av4JQDfSokson2HpfduRwXVfsnTvJUoPesjbhPN5B6nZ-GrdEwCp0n3XpkF3/s320/Majikat+-+Front.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 165px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 165px;" /></a> <img src="http://feedjit.com/images/flags/gr.png" /> <span style="font-style: italic;">Steven Demetre Georgiou</span>, known by his stage name <b>Cat Stevens</b>, is a greece-british singer/songwriter.
